The client-to-agent linking process (Trusts & Companies)

 

Step 1: Set up your MyGovID

  • Download the myGovID app

  • Follow these instructions to set up your MyGovID

  • Obtain either a Strong or Standard identity strength


Step 2: Link your MyGovID to your ABN in RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager)

If you have a Strong identity strength and your name is listed on the Australian Business Register you can link your ABN online by logging in to Relationship Authorisation Manager, selecting link my business and following the prompts. If not:

  • You'll need to contact the ATO (1300 287 539 and select option 3) to complete this step. Please also note:

    • The wait times can potential be long on this call so best suggestion is first thing in the morning (8am) 

    • The caller will need to be either a director, a director of the trustee, or the trustee of the trust itself to link the business​

    • ​You also may be asked for the following information to prove your identity (Have on hand)​

      • Super fund & year end super balance​

      • Tax file number

      • Taxable income from previous year

 

Step 3: Log in to Online Services for Business

​Use your MyGovID to log in to Online Services for Business

 

Step 4: Nominate your agent in Online Services for Business

Use the following steps to nominate the agent from within Online Services for Business and helpful screenshots and slides are available in the document here

  • Select Profile, then Agent Details

  • at the Agent nominations feature, select Add

  • on the Nominate Agent screen, go to Search for Agent

  • type your agent's registered agent number (62790002 - Michael Beks & Associates)

  • check that the agents details are correct

  • complete the Declaration and select Submit

  • you'll receive a nomination submission confirmation

  • you'll see your agents details listed under Agent nominations

 

Step 5: Tell your agent you've nominated them

Your agent will not receive an automated notification that you've nominated them, so its important to let them know when you've completed this step. Once this is all done we can link you to our tax agent registration.
